In pump applications the bypass contactor is often required to provide emergency operation capability. This is achieved
with a service switch that allows a changeover from soft starter operation to DOL starting through the bypass contactor. In the latter
setting the soft starter is fully bypassed. But because the output circuit must not be opened during operation, the interlocks ensure that
changeovers take place only after a stop.
Note:
In contrast to simple bypass operation, the bypass contactor must be laid out to AC3 here. For a suitable contactor, see our recommended
